Irene M. Hill 12/20/09

Irene M. Hill, 86, of Rogers Lake, Old Lyme, passed away at Bridebrook Health Center in Niantic, after a short illness.

She was born in Niantic on July 25, 1923, to the late John and Grace (Reed) Daniels.

Irene lived most of her life at Rogers Lake, within walking distance to the waterfront. Her working career brought her from tool and die factory work, to managing a local laundromat, to elderly home care, before she retired. She had unconditional love for her children and was always there for everyone in her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne M. Kenny of Old Lyme and son, John Stone. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brett Mckenna and Kelly Stone, both of Groton; and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by a sister, Martha, brother, Forest Daniels, and most recently, her loving sister, Doris "Bobbie" Appell.

Family and friends may visit from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. A celebration of her life will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Lyme Volunteer Ambulance Association, 22 Cross Lane, Old Lyme, CT 06371.
