Santo Biondo, 57, beloved husband of Jane (Piersa) Biondo, of Old Lyme, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Santo was born to Salvatrice (Aliano) Biondo of New Britain and the late Salvatore Biondo in Solarino, Sicily, Italy. He grew up in New Britain and his hobbies included carpentry.
He was currently working at the Mohegan Sun in mechanical engineering and with the New England State Transport. He previously worked at the Hartford Insurance.
A devoted son, husband, father, brother and uncle, in addition to his wife, Jane of 33 years, and his mother, he is also survived and will be dearly missed by his two sons, Mark and Jason Biondo of Old Lyme; his brother, Michael Biondo and his wife, Virginia, of Burlington; a sister, Josephine Slusz and husband, Tony, of Kensington; mother and father in laws, Walter and Bernice Piersa of Old Lyme; brothers in law and sisters in law, Salvatore and Diane Capasso of Old Lyme and Walter and Sue Piersa of Glastonbury; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Carmelo Calafiore of Old Lyme.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 23, from the New Britain Memorial & Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, with the funeral liturgy in St. Ann Church. Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
