The Old Lyme girls defeated Old Saybrook 60-48 yesterday evening in a gritty game in which the Wildcats would pull away and then the Rams, time after time, bounced back, keeping the enthusiastic fans on their toes until the final buzzer.  Catherine Logan and Megan Devlin both scored 14 points and Sarah Schmidt, playing an outstanding game, added another eleven.

Cassie Algar netted two important three-pointers in her eight-point contribution and with Elise Beauprez, Alison Wilkman and Courtney Vinchesi all getting on the scoreboard with six, four and three points respectively, a delighted coach Don Bugbee noted that all seven girls who played on the varsity team had scored.

Bugbee described the game as "a good, typical Old Lyme- Old Saybrook battle" and commented that Saybrook are "a much improved team."  Amanda King led the Rams inscoring with 17 points.

Rams coach Steve Woods was also happy with his team's performance noting that although his girls had been behind against, "a good, veteran, very talented team," his girls had still managed to come back.  Pointing out that in previous years, "Being down would have been a disaster," he said, "I'm very pleased with where we're at."  Bugbee agreed predicting that the Rams are "going to make some noise" this year.
