Anne R. Comprone, 89, formerly of Waterford and Groton, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at the Bayview Healthcare Center, Waterford.

She was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Anna Tumolo Lombardo.  She married the late John Joseph Comprone in Lansdowne, Pa. on Jan. 13, 1942. Mr. Comprone died in 1988.

Mrs. Comprone worked in the Accounting Office at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital as a bookkeeper for many years.  She was an avid reader and loved to paint.

She is survived by her children, Joseph John Comprone of Groton, Dennis Patrick Comprone of Woodstock Valley, Jacqueline Anne Weber of Hampton, Mass., and Annemarie Bellenoit of Old Lyme; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sisters, JoAnne Teti and Rose Torreiri.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic.  Interment followed in Union Cemetery, Niantic.
