Monday evening (11/16) in a formal but cheerful ceremony held in the Meeting Room of Old Lyme's Memorial Town Hall, Town Clerk Irene Carnell swore into office the majority of public officials who were elected on Nov. 3. Family and friends of those taking their oaths were on hand to share in the occasion. This is one of the final times that Carnell will perform this duty as she is retiring at the end of 2009 after 35 years service to the town.

First came the members of the Region 18 Board of Education, pictured above. Incumbents Allison Hine (left) and Russell Gomes (right) were joined by newcomers Stephen Cinami (second from left) and Victoria Lanier (second from right). All four are Republican-endorsed candidates.

Democrat David Woolley signs the paperwork after being sworn in to serve on the board of finance.

Incumbent Selectmen Skip Sibley (R) and Bonnie Reemsnyder (D) both solemnly renew their oaths of office ...

First Selectman Timothy Griswold (R) takes his oath to serve a sixth consecutive term.
