Jon Louis Travis, 51, died Nov. 4, 2009, at Kindred Hospital in Massachusetts.
He was born June 23, 1958, in Bath, N.Y., to Jack and Sylvia Travis. He was raised and educated in southeast Connecticut and after graduating high school he attended Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. He worked in various jobs while pursuing his passion of art. Oil, watercolor, and sculpture were his favorite media that he displayed at the Hygienic Art Show over the last 25 years.
He enjoyed fly-fishing and tying his own flies. He was a wonderful husband, unique Renaissance man, a liberal Democrat, great Uncle Stinky and all around good guy. He was a member of the New Hampshire Potters Guild.
Mr. Travis was preceded in death by his father.
Family members include his wife of 12 years, Cathy LaForge of Deerfield; a daughter, Amethyst Travis of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec City, Canada; two grandchildren; his mother of New York; four brothers, Jesse Travis of New York, Jay Travis of Connecticut, Jim Travis of New York and Joseph Travis of Connecticut; and a sister, Joan Travis of Connecticut.
A greeting time will begin Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. and a celebration of his life at 2:30 p.m at The Hospitality Building at Southern New Hampshire University, 2500 North River Road, Manchester.
