Comcast Offers Grant Funding, Scholarship Opportunities

The Old Lyme Area Cable Advisory Council has notified First Selectmen and School Superintendents in the Towns of East Haddam, Haddam Neck, Lyme, Old Lyme and Salem of a grant funding opportunity.

In June, the Advisory Council voted to use a designated portion of its funds to subsidize capital and equipment costs related to producing and procuring public, educational and governmental programming, as well as scholarships and projects that encourage community access.

For the calendar year 2009, only one grant application will be considered from each of the communities served by the Advisory Council.

Funding for educational and governmental programs is also available through the DPUC’s PEGPETIA Grant program.

In addition, Comcast Cable offers a scholarship of $1,000 to graduating seniors in communities served.  Scholarship application information is submitted directly from Comcast to the Guidance Offices of local high schools each fall.

Applications for the Old Lyme Area Cable Advisory Council grant are due Nov.1 and notifications will be made in January.
