Helen R. Mayotte 09/23/09

Helen R. Mayotte, 92, of Wilkinson St., Putnam, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Matulaitis Nursing Home. 
She was the wife of Ernest Mayotte.  They were married Sept. 1, 1941, in St. Mary Church; he died Feb. 2, 2005.
She was born May 20, 1917, in Willimantic, daughter of Alfred and Dorilla (Lamiotte) Plante.  She made her home in Putnam most of her life and was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation.  She was employed at Belding Hemingway Co. in Putnam for many years.  Helen was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed her flowers and knitting and crocheting.
She leaves a son, Roger Mayotte and his wife, Marlene, of Lyme; three granddaughters, Ann Marie Gustavson of Putnam, Carrie Boyles of Mellenville, N.Y., Beth Ganiere of Berwick, Maine; seven great-grandchildren, Abe and Ben Gustavson, Mark and Keith Boyles, Gabrielle, Celine, and Holden Ganiere; a sister, Lena Racette; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa (Mayotte) Wheaton in 1997.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday Sept. 28 at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam.  Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary Church, 218 Providence St., Putnam CT 06260.
