"Wait Until Dark"

Jennifer Petty Mann grew up in New York City, moved to London, England, then back to Boston, and is now happily ensconced on the EightMile river in Lyme with her husband and three little ones.  A former teacher, window dresser for Saks, and designer, she is taking her love of the arts to the proverbial "street."  Read her latest book and theater reviews exclusively here on LymeLine.

Go right now.  Call 860-767-7318.  If you miss the amount of talent on the stage for this show, you will kick yourself.  I’ll help.

This performance and this cast appearing locally is almost too good to be true.  It is a gift not to be squandered, people!

Tickets at twice the price would be worth it.  Dragging yourself into New York to see it would be worth it.

I was glued to my seat.

Remember Horshack on Welcome Back, Kotter?  He is brilliant as a deranged, creepily shrewd criminal.  From his wildly innapropriate laughs to his stuttering disguises, he is brilliant.  He was mesmerizing but the rest of the cast is so good it was hardly a one-man show.

As the young, beautiful, blind wife, Latonia Phipps knocked my socks off.  She was a luminous bell in this crowd of nasty con-men.  I never for a minute thought about her as a woman who could actually see.

The con-men were perfect.
Michael Edward Hodge was edgy and sweating as only an uncomfortable, guilty - but not evil - man would be.  Michael Barra was a cogent, selfish muscle-man.  I loved them both.

Sasha Blue Krivosky is a little girl in her first big role and she was great!  I can’t wait to see her next big role.

The final act had people shrieking and entranced.  I won’t give it away but it was so well done that no one moved when it was all over.  No one wanted to leave their seats.

As always, the stage is meticulously organized.  The set, the lighting, the sound, it was all so real and so well crafted that sitting in the front row, inches away, is an experience I wouldn’t miss for the world.

Budgets may be tight but this is worth every cent.  What better way to spend our dollars than having an absolutely riveting night in the presence of real talent?

The Ivoryton is a jewel in our midst that is not to be ignored.  You are really missing something if you don’t go.

Truly.
