Scarecrows are Scarce!

The Bowerbird currently has only one, very lonely scarecrow on its lawn, unlike previous years (see photo above) —so in order to atract more participants to its third annual Build a Scarecrow contest, the entry deadline has been extended. 

All local non-profit youth groups and organizations based in Chester, Deep River, Essex, Old Saybrook, Niantic, Lyme and Old Lyme are eligible to enter and each organization that participates will receive a $50 gift certificate for fund-raising purposes.  

Suggested groups which might which to enter are high school students/class fund raising, clubs, scouts, band and chorus, sports clubs and any other youth oriented groups.

One scarecrow will be selected as the Grand Prize winner and be awarded $100 in cash for its sponsoring organization.
 
So, start building ... quickly!
